Community Development Manager £24,232 per annum
(This post is for a 6-month period initially with the potential to be extended)

This challenging role requires an energetic self-starter to oversee the day-to-day management of this up and coming community project. You will be an enterprising person who is effective and proficient in collaborating with a variety of partners and have the experience and motivation to establish and develop new projects. You will be an excellent communicator and work well with people from a variety of age groups
The successful candidate for this post will be subject to a criminal check through Disclosure Scotland.

Job Title Community Development Manager (37.5 Hours per Week) Salary £24,232 per annum

Main Purpose and Scope of the Job
• To develop a wide range of outcomes that can support the East End Community, using sport and related activity.
• To develop and take forward major projects at Fairfield Community Sports Club
• To create a strong fundraising strategy to progress the development of various sports and also improvements to facilities.
• To give wider support to all members of FCSH and the communities they serve.
• To be responsible for the day-to-day operational management and development of the FCSH Pavilion.
• To implement the strategic aims of the Board i.e. to ensure the Pavilion is fully utilised, financially viable, and regarded as an essential resource for the community.
• To prepare and maintain reports to funders when specified in funding agreements.
• TO develop a clear strategy to engage with the East End Community using sport and related activity and to work in partnerships within the third, statutory, and private sectors and across the FCSH membership and community.
• To Support FCSH to realise a new and enhanced sports and community facility at Fairfield Park & Pavilion through securing funding and wider business support.
• To Support existing and new member clubs to engage with the club and services.
• To develop Sports Mentors who can support young people who may have challenging behaviour or are from difficult backgrounds to be more involved.
• To the development of new clubs and activities locally, that meet community need and which can support wider participation in sport and related activity in a way that is accessible and sustainable.
• To develop new volunteer opportunities and increase the number of opportunities offered locally
• To support existing and new members of FCSH to develop good governance, follow good practice and access training where required.
• Insure that FCSH continues to work in partnership with a variety of agencies and projects which can improve the health and wellbeing of the members and the wider community

ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE

Qualifications
&
Abilities • A background in working with partners at both a strategic and community setting
• Ability to plan and manage your own workload. • Degree or HND preferably in business, sport or community/social related studies
• A proven background in fundraising be that through direct funding applications or by gaining business support
• Confident at giving presentations in both community settings and to wider professionals

Experience • Planning, problem solving and decision making
• Managing people in a variety of situations.
• Knowledge of monitoring evaluation processes • Experience of project management and developing initiatives within a community setting
• Experience of developing successful funding bids especially for large capital projects
• Experience of managing volunteers / developing volunteering models.

Knowledge
&
Understanding • Understanding of health and safety regulations
• and risk management
• Understanding of project management and working to tight timescales. • Knowledge of current sports models developed in community settings
• Knowledge of formal/ informal accreditation qualifications for both young people and volunteers
• Knowledge of funding and private sector investment to community groups

Other Requirements • Willing to undergo a PVG check to work with young people
• Good team worker, able to motivate people and communicate effectively
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and make things happen
• Provide support to wider FCSH projects and initiatives from time to time
• Willing to travel and occasionally work unsocial hours
• Ability to think and act strategically • Hold a full driving license
• Able to drive a minibus
• Good people skills

About Fairfield

Fairfield Community Sports Hub supports a number of sports within the Drumgeith/Fairfield Park area of Dundee and aims to serve the wider community in the future by providing high level sports and community facilities.
We are a community sports hub that brings the community together through sport and well being with sport for all ages and training opportunities for all
We are based primarily in Fairfield Park but have aspirations to obtain Drumgeith Pavilion as our main facility, the Hub is also supported by Fairfield Sport and Social Club which is located next to the pavilion.
All three facilities are within a two minute stroll of each other and will be mutually supporting to the hub.
